TVK Minister Nirmalkumar Alleges DMK-BJP in 'Direct Alliance' Over Delimitation Vote
Energy and Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar alleged on August 14 that the DMK and the BJP, previously in an indirect understanding, had now entered an open and direct alliance, claiming the DMK planned to walk out rather than vote against the proposed delimitation legislation; the DMK dismissed the charge.

Tamil Nadu Energy and Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar alleged on August 14 that the DMK and the BJP, which he said had earlier been in an indirect alliance, had now entered into an open and direct one.
He claimed the DMK had not clearly opposed the Union government's proposed delimitation legislation and alleged the party planned to stage a walkout rather than vote against it in Parliament, which he said would effectively amount to indirect support for the move.
Nirmal Kumar further alleged that the DMK had grown dependent on the BJP-led Union government to shield itself from corruption cases.
Responding to the charge, DMK spokesperson Kanimozhi Somu said there were no permanent friends or foes in politics and reiterated that the DMK remained firm on securing more seats for Tamil Nadu.
