TVK Demands Explanation From Stalin Over Handling of Gem Veeramani POCSO Case
The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on September 23 demanded that DMK president M.K. Stalin explain how the POCSO case involving Gem Granites founder R. Veeramani was handled under the previous DMK government, with the party's IT wing alleging that the investigation had been allowed to weaken and a final report filed without a proper inquiry.

The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on Wednesday, September 23, demanded that DMK president M.K. Stalin explain how the POCSO case involving Gem Granites founder R. Veeramani had been handled during the previous DMK government.
In a statement, the party's Information Technology wing alleged that no effective action had been taken against Veeramani, and questioned why a final report was filed in the case without a proper investigation.
The TVK said the case had caused widespread public concern at the time, and alleged that it had subsequently been buried.
The statement also asked under whose pressure the then Law Minister S. Regupathy had allowed the investigation to be weakened, and what the reason for it was.
The TVK did not produce evidence that Mr. Stalin had intervened in the investigation. The allegations have turned the case into a fresh political exchange between the ruling party and the DMK.
