Tiruchirappalli East — the second of two seats Vijay is contesting in the 2026 assembly election — received its nomination filing in a procession that closed three of the city's arterial roads.
The choice of Trichy is symbolic: a central-Tamil Nadu industrial-and-educational hub that has historically swung between major formations. TVK's framing positions Trichy East as the test case for whether new political identity can break the binary that has defined state politics for four decades.
A sister rally — held earlier the same morning at the city's Anna Stadium — filled to capacity 90 minutes before the scheduled start.
