Perambur — Chennai's industrial-northern assembly constituency — received Vijay's first nomination filing of the 2026 cycle. The choice anchors the campaign in the working-class urban demographic the party has steadily courted since 2024.
The constituency carries historical weight: a major railway junction, an ICF presence, and a high concentration of MSME workshops. Local TVK office-bearers framed Perambur as both a test of urban appeal and a statement of priority.
The filing was followed by a short address; full campaigning in the constituency was scheduled to ramp through April 2026.
