Stalin slams TVK over Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam delay: "Is this your promised change?"

DMK President and former Chief Minister MK Stalin publicly criticised the TVK government for the delay in crediting the May instalment of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam scheme, the monthly Rs 1,000 welfare payment introduced by his administration.
In a sharp statement, Stalin said: "Didn't you just say yesterday in the Legislative Assembly that the Dravidian model government's welfare schemes will continue?" He then added pointedly: "After announcing Rs 2,500 per month, is dragging your feet without even giving Rs 1,000 what you call your change?"
The criticism follows CM Vijay's own intervention — he convened a meeting at the Secretariat to ensure the May payment goes out — but Stalin's remarks highlight the political pressure the new government faces in managing the optics of welfare continuity while also projecting ambition for higher targets.
