DMK No Longer Part of INDIA Bloc, Only Congress Remains In It: Kanimozhi
DMK parliamentary party leader Kanimozhi said on August 14 that the DMK was no longer part of the INDIA bloc and that Congress was currently the only constituent left in the alliance, days after the DMK sought separate seating from Congress in the Lok Sabha and Kanimozhi alone attended a tea event hosted by the Speaker that other bloc parties boycotted.

DMK parliamentary party leader Kanimozhi said on August 14 that the DMK was no longer part of the INDIA bloc, describing Congress as currently the only party remaining in the opposition alliance.
She was speaking to reporters at Chennai airport before leaving for Delhi, responding to questions about her attendance a day earlier at a tea event hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at the close of Parliament's Monsoon Session, which other INDIA bloc parties had boycotted. She said there was nothing controversial about her attending.
The DMK has in recent months sought to distance itself from the INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu, including asking for separate seating arrangements from Congress in the Lok Sabha.
The rift follows Congress's decision to extend support to the TVK-led state government after this year's Assembly election, ending its long-standing electoral alliance with the DMK in Tamil Nadu.
