Former minister SP Velumani met AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami at his Greenways Road residence in Chennai, with the faction claiming there was never a split but rather a "difference of opinion."
Velumani stressed that the party would continue to function as a united and strong force, following the appeal of their general secretary.
Both camps withdrew petitions submitted to the Speaker seeking disqualification of MLAs under the anti-defection law: "Agri S S Krishnamurthy and others who petitioned the Speaker, as well as the 22 MLAs from our camp who filed a similar petition, have withdrawn their complaints," said Velumani.
Notably, CV Shanmugam was absent from the meeting, signalling that full party unity has not yet been achieved.
Velumani also met Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar to withdraw a separate petition from rebel MLAs demanding a new AIADMK legislature party leader.
