AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced on July 22 that the party would hold a protest condemning the alleged irregular registration of land belonging to the Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple trust in Palani.
The protest, organised by the party's Dindigul West district unit, is scheduled for the morning of July 25 near the Palani bus stand roundtana, with district leaders including Dindigul Srinivasan expected to take part.
Palaniswami said land estimated to be worth around Rs 100 crore, and reportedly belonging to the temple trust, had been illegally registered in the names of private individuals, calling the matter serious and suspicious.
He urged that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for an impartial probe, and appealed to the public and the spiritual community to support efforts to protect temple properties across Tamil Nadu.
The case is already under investigation by the state's CB-CID, which has questioned officials and seized documents in recent days; one of the accused in the case separately approached the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on July 22 seeking anticipatory bail.
