The protocol for rendering the state song Tamil Thai Vazhthu and Karnataka's Mekedatu irrigation project were among the issues CM Vijay raised with PM Modi. He requested the Union government to issue a clarification allowing the state invocation song to continue being sung first at the beginning of government functions in Tamil Nadu.
CM Vijay expressed strong opposition to Karnataka's decision to hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the Mekedatu dam project across the Cauvery River, calling it contrary to the final ruling of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and the judgment of the Supreme Court.
Vijay further urged the Centre to establish a Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) and an AMCA development centre in Tamil Nadu, bolstering the state's role in India's aerospace and defence manufacturing.
He informed PM Modi that there have been 12 fishermen arrest incidents in 2026 so far. Currently, 58 fishermen are held in Sri Lankan custody while 266 fishing boats have been seized. He urged the Prime Minister to take up the matter diplomatically for their immediate release.
CM Vijay also thanked PM Modi for bringing back the Aanaimangalam copper plates to India during his visit to the Netherlands — historic Tamil artefacts of cultural significance.
