Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C Joseph Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, May 27 — the very first official meeting between the two leaders since the TVK government took charge in Tamil Nadu.
The meeting took place at Seva Teerth in the national capital and lasted around 30 minutes. The Prime Minister's Office confirmed the interaction on X: "Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru @actorvijay met Prime Minister @narendramodi today."
Upon arriving in Delhi, Vijay visited the Tamil Nadu House, where he was received with a ceremonial guard of honour during his first official visit to the capital as Chief Minister.
During their discussion, CM Vijay raised several critical issues spanning federal rights, defence projects, education policy, fishermen, and pending state funds — submitting a detailed memorandum for follow-up action.
The meeting is being viewed as a significant moment for southern politics, signalling the new Tamil Nadu government's intent to engage directly with the Centre on key issues of state interest.
