Coimbatore 10-year-old girl murder — CM Vijay assures "severe punishment"; ministers visit family; NCW seeks report from Tamil Nadu DGP
Chief Minister Vijay called the Coimbatore incident "horrific" and directed police to file a chargesheet immediately, while two ministers visited the family with ₹7 lakh relief and the National Commission for Women sought an Action Taken Report from Tamil Nadu's DGP within seven days.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay posted on X: "The horrific incident involving a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore has caused immense pain and shock. Such inhuman and unforgivable criminal acts can never be tolerated in our society."
Vijay directed police to conduct a thorough and expeditious investigation and take all necessary actions to file the chargesheet immediately.
Transport Minister A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban and Backward Classes Welfare Minister V. Sampath Kumar visited the victim's family and provided ₹7 lakh as relief assistance under POCSO Act provisions.
Parthiban said: "This is not just a loss for one family, but a tragedy for the entire state," reaffirming the government's commitment to strict punishment.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) took cognisance of the case and sought a detailed Action Taken Report from the Tamil Nadu DGP within seven days.
BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran also visited the family and demanded ₹1 crore compensation from the state government.
