Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is expected to meet Prime Minister Modi between 4:30 pm and 5 pm and submit a detailed memorandum covering a wide range of issues concerning Tamil Nadu.
The memorandum will include requests relating to the Chennai Metro Rail expansion project, pending GST compensation dues, early release of the state's share under various Central schemes, and allocation of educational funds under PM SHRI (₹2,500 crore).
The Chief Minister is expected to raise the long-pending fishermen issue involving arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy and seek the Centre's intervention against Karnataka's proposed Mekedatu reservoir project across the Cauvery River.
Timely supply of fertilisers including urea, DAP, and MOP for the upcoming Kharif cultivation season is also on the agenda, along with a formal push for NEET abolition and state autonomy in medical admissions.
As part of the visit, CM Vijay is scheduled to inaugurate a statue of classical Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) — a move seen as highlighting Tamil cultural identity at the national level.
