With Tamil Nadu facing a widening shortfall in Cauvery water releases from Karnataka and delta farmers anxious over the Kuruvai and Samba season, both DMK president M.K. Stalin and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on July 24 urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's government to act more forcefully, though for differing political reasons.
