Curated Updates
DMK President and former Chief Minister MK Stalin publicly criticised the TVK government for delaying the May payment under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam scheme, asking: "After announcing Rs 2,500 per month, is dragging your feet without even giving Rs 1,000 what you call your change?"
The day after 25 AIADMK MLAs defied the party whip and backed CM Vijay's floor test, both rival factions held emergency meetings to decide their next moves. EPS chaired a meeting at his residence to shore up support, while the rebel group led by Velumani, Shanmugam, and Vijayabhaskar also convened to plan their course.
After winning the confidence motion with 144 votes, CM Vijay countered opposition horse-trading accusations with a memorable line: "This government runs at horse-speed, not through horse-trading," and pledged to protect the rights of minorities, women, farmers, youth, and government employees.
Following NTA's cancellation of NEET UG 2026 over a widespread paper leak, Chief Minister Vijay issued an official statement demanding that the Centre scrap NEET and allow states to admit students to MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses based on Class 12 marks.
