Udhayanidhi Dares CM Vijay to Open 'Corruption Files' Against DMK, Asks If He's Waiting for an Astrologer; Minister Nirmal Kumar Hits Back
Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin challenged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on August 21 to immediately release the corruption files he has claimed to hold against the previous DMK government, asking sarcastically whether Vijay was waiting for his astrologer to fix a date — an exchange that also touched on the promised live telecast of Assembly proceedings and drew a sharp retort from Minister Nirmal Kumar.

Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin challenged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on August 21 to make public the corruption files Vijay has said he holds against the previous DMK regime, questioning why they had not yet been released.
Referring to the Chief Minister's earlier remark that he would reveal the files "at an appropriate time," Udhayanidhi asked sarcastically whether Vijay was "waiting for his astrologer to fix the date," and urged him to open the files and take immediate action if there was solid evidence of corruption.
Udhayanidhi also questioned why Assembly proceedings were still not being telecast live as promised, and said the government had nothing to fear from letting the public watch. He added that the word "astrologer" was not objectionable, alleging that the TVK government had itself appointed and later removed a person associated with astrology from a government position, and claimed that portions expunged from the Assembly record had surfaced on television and as social media reels.
Responding, Minister Nirmal Kumar hit back at the astrology reference, saying Tamil Nadu had already witnessed a chief minister wearing a "yellow shawl" after consulting astrologers — a swipe at the previous DMK government.
The exchange triggered loud sloganeering between DMK and TVK members, briefly disrupting House proceedings before business resumed.
