AMMK's TTV Dinakaran Submits Memorandum to TN Governor, Alleges Ruling Party 'Purchasing' MLAs

AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dinakaran met Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi at Raj Bhavan in Guindy, Chennai, on August 26 and submitted a memorandum seeking the Governor's intervention against what he described as "horse-trading" and the "purchasing" of MLAs by the ruling party.

Dinakaran alleged that the ruling TVK had coerced and struck deals with AIADMK MLAs, prompting them to resign their seats on the promise of a bigger political future within TVK, a practice he said went against the people's electoral mandate.

He told reporters after the meeting that he had submitted the memorandum and that the Governor had assured him necessary steps would be taken to look into the concerns raised.

The complaint comes against the backdrop of a string of AIADMK MLA resignations in recent months that left several Assembly constituencies vacant, and follows recent claims by a TVK minister that more AIADMK legislators are preparing to switch sides.
