Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated the 'Presenceless Registration' — also referred to as 'Anywhere Registration' — service at the Secretariat on August 17, a new procedure under which registration of documents for the first sale of plots in a layout and the first sale of apartments in a residential complex will be done exclusively online.
The Registration Department said the system also supports certain government sale documents and select banking documents, including mortgage and receipt deeds, subject to eligibility conditions, and that the public can complete registration through the department's website from anywhere and at any time.
Officials said the move was intended to reduce the need for repeated visits to Sub-Registrar offices and to improve transparency and efficiency in the registration process. Applicants will need an internet connection along with a UIDAI-approved fingerprint and iris scanner, a blue backdrop screen and a webcam to complete identity verification online.
The service went live for first-sale registrations of plots and flats from Monday, August 17, according to the department.
