Following the unanimous election of the Speaker earlier today, the Tamil Nadu Assembly formally elected Mr. Ravishankar (TVK MLA) as the Deputy Speaker, completing the constitutional formation of the House leadership.
Ravishankar, a long-time associate of the TVK leadership, was elected unopposed. He was ceremoniously led to his chair by Leader of the House CM Vijay and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin — a rare bipartisan gesture on the opening day of the 17th Assembly.
This marks a significant moment for the TVK, as it now holds both key presiding positions in the House, ensuring a disciplined and structured start to the new legislative term.
