DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth erupted in anger on Monday over the series of sexual assaults against minor girls, adding her voice to the growing public demand for stronger state action.
Coming in the wake of the Coimbatore 10-year-old girl murder case, additional incidents of sexual violence against minors have been reported across Tamil Nadu.
Premalatha demanded CM Vijay take visible, concrete action — beyond press statements — including deploying the Singa Pen Sirappu Athiradi Padai (women's and children's safety force) on the ground.
She also called for fast-tracking trials in POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) cases and creating a publicly visible accountability mechanism for crimes against children.
