DMK president MK Stalin paid floral tribute at the Karunanidhi memorial on Monday, as Thanthi TV reported, ahead of the late DMK patriarch's 103rd birth anniversary on June 3.
June 3 is observed as "Classical Language Day" (செம்மொழி தினம்) in Tamil Nadu — a tradition established during the previous Stalin-led DMK government to honour Karunanidhi's lifelong advocacy for Tamil's classical language status.
Under the new TVK government, CM Vijay's administration is expected to observe Karunanidhi's birth anniversary with official tributes — signalling TVK's acknowledgment of Karunanidhi's historic contribution to Tamil Nadu's Dravidian legacy.
The tribute underscores the intertwining of political history and governance in Tamil Nadu, where Karunanidhi remains a towering figure across party lines.
