Nominations Close for October 6 Madurantakam, Dharapuram Bypolls as TVK, DMK, AIADMK Field Candidates
Nomination filing for the October 6 by-elections to the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly seats closed on September 16, with the TVK fielding the two former AIADMK MLAs who defected to the party, the DMK naming Paranthaman and Suganya, and the AIADMK fielding Kanitha Sampath and K. Bhanumathi.

The nomination filing period for the October 6 by-elections to the Madurantakam (SC) and Dharapuram (SC) Assembly constituencies closed on September 16, the Election Commission of India confirmed.
The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam fielded the two former AIADMK legislators who defected to the party after resigning their seats: K. Maragatham Kumaravel for Madurantakam and P. Sathyabama for Dharapuram.
The DMK named Paranthaman for Madurantakam and Suganya for Dharapuram, while the AIADMK fielded former MLA Kanitha Sampath for Madurantakam and Tiruppur district functionary K. Bhanumathi for Dharapuram.
The Naam Tamilar Katchi also announced candidates for both seats, among a wider field; officials said Madurantakam drew 13 nominations and Dharapuram 17 by the close of filing.
The two by-elections, the first electoral test for the TVK government since it took office after the 2026 Assembly election, will be held on October 6, with results due later that month.
