DMK Holds Statewide Protest Against CM Vijay's Remarks on Karunanidhi and Stalin

The DMK organised protests across Tamil Nadu on September 12, condemning Chief Minister and TVK president C. Joseph Vijay's remarks in the Assembly targeting late party patriarch M. Karunanidhi and party president M.K. Stalin.

The protests followed Vijay's September 7 reply in the Assembly, in which he cited the Sarkaria Commission report and other material to allege corruption during past DMK governments led by Karunanidhi and Stalin.

The party also objected to Law Minister R. Nirmal Kumar's remarks about Stalin's detention during the 1975-77 Emergency, saying such references were being used to score political points rather than address governance.

Leading the protest in Chennai, senior DMK leader P.K. Sekar Babu described Vijay's allegations as "cinema-style dialogues" delivered over roughly an hour in the House, and praised Stalin's record and conduct in public life.

The agitation came days after DMK legislators were evicted from the Assembly on September 8 while demanding that Vijay's September 7 remarks be expunged from the record.
