Chief Minister Vijay is set to make a special visit to the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency to personally thank voters ahead of the June 18 by-election.
Vijay won Trichy East in the May 2026 elections with a margin of 27,416 votes but later chose to retain his Perambur constituency, vacating the Trichy East seat and triggering the bypoll.
The visit reflects CM Vijay's characteristic personal bond with his constituency voters and is seen as a way of ensuring the constituency remains connected to the Chief Minister even as a new TVK candidate prepares to contest.
The bypoll for Trichy East is scheduled alongside the Rajya Sabha by-election on June 18. TVK's candidate for the seat has not yet been officially announced.
