TN Government Plans Rs 7,000-Crore 'Singappenngal' Loan Scheme for Women, SHGs Ahead of State Budget
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay chaired a review meeting on the Cooperation Department and preparations for the upcoming State Budget, at which the government firmed up plans for a 'Singappenngal Development Scheme' to provide roughly Rs 7,000 crore in loans to young women, disadvantaged groups and self-help group members.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay chaired a review meeting on the working of the Cooperation Department and preparations for the upcoming State Budget, at which the government firmed up plans to introduce a new 'Singappenngal Development Scheme.'
The scheme is aimed at boosting economic opportunities for young women, disadvantaged sections and members of women's self-help groups, with the government planning to facilitate loans amounting to roughly Rs 7,000 crore.
Officials said the proposed loans are intended to help beneficiaries start businesses, take up self-employment and become entrepreneurs, with self-help group members expected to be among the key beneficiaries.
The scheme is designed to improve access to credit for women and marginalised communities and is likely to be formally announced when the State Budget is presented next month.
