Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is among the leading figures confirmed to attend the swearing-in ceremony of V.D. Satheesan as Kerala Chief Minister on Monday, May 18. The ceremony will be held at Thiruvananthapuram's Central Stadium at 10 AM.
The event has taken on a distinctly national character. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and chief ministers of Congress-ruled states — Karnataka's Siddaramaiah, Telangana's A. Revanth Reddy, and Himachal Pradesh's Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu — are expected to attend. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are also likely to be present. Invitations have been extended by the Kerala Chief Secretary.
For CM Vijay, the attendance carries alliance significance beyond protocol. Congress and IUML — two of UDF's key constituents in Kerala — are also TVK's alliance partners in Tamil Nadu, having supported the Vijay government in securing a simple majority. His presence alongside Rahul Gandhi publicly cements the TVK's position within the broader INDIA alliance framework.
