Newly sworn-in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to undertake his first official three-day visit to New Delhi before the end of May. The visit will mark his first formal engagement with the Union Government as Chief Minister.
CM Vijay is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hold discussions with Union Cabinet Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S. Jaishankar. He is likely to submit a memorandum and a detailed request letter covering issues within each minister's remit.
Priority issues on the agenda include Tamil Nadu's fiscal situation and pending central funds, the ongoing distress of Tamil Nadu fishermen held in Sri Lankan custody, Tamil Nadu's pending infrastructure projects, and coordination with the Union Government on state-specific concerns raised during the 2026 election campaign. The visit is being closely watched as an early indicator of how Vijay will manage Centre-state relations.
