Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday on a three-day visit to participate in the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, scheduled to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 11.
As confirmed by Thanthi TV in a breaking news flash on June 10 morning, CM Vijay met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan shortly after arriving in Delhi — the first stop on his packed capital itinerary.
This is Vijay's second visit to New Delhi after becoming Chief Minister in May. His maiden visit on May 27 had not included a meeting with Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi; that meeting is now widely expected to take place during this visit.
Sources said the Chief Minister is also expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his stay. The NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting will see the participation of Chief Ministers of all states, and Vijay is expected to present Tamil Nadu's priorities and concerns before the council.
Congress MP Christopher Tilak had earlier told reporters that a CM–Congress leadership meeting was deferred, not cancelled, during the May 27 visit — and that it would take place around the June 11 NITI Aayog trip.
The three-day Delhi visit is being closely watched as CM Vijay's first major engagement at the national level, potentially cementing the TVK–Congress alliance and signalling Tamil Nadu's priorities to the Union Government.
