CM Vijay announces 2% Dearness Allowance hike for government employees and teachers, effective January 1
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced a 2 per cent Dearness Allowance increase for government employees and teachers, raising DA from 58 per cent to 60 per cent effective January 1, 2026. The hike benefits 16 lakh employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners at an additional annual cost of ₹1,230 crore.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced a 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance for state government employees and teachers. The DA was increased from 58 per cent to 60 per cent, effective from January 1, 2026.
A total of 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners will benefit from the revision. The DA hike will result in an additional annual expenditure of ₹1,230 crore for the state government.
The CM's office reaffirmed the government's commitment to the welfare of all state employees and pensioners. The announcement was welcomed by government employee unions, who said it reflected the TVK administration's recognition of the rising cost of living.
