The expansion involves an investment of about Rs 850 crore and is expected to generate around 6,750 direct jobs, with women expected to make up a large share of the workforce.
The government said the project would strengthen Tamil Nadu's position in global footwear manufacturing and boost industrial growth and exports from Karur district.
The announcement came days after Vijay's first visit to Karur since the September 2025 rally stampede, as the government continues to push investment and rehabilitation initiatives in the district.
