The AIADMK's internal rift deepened after 25 MLAs backed Vijay's TVK government during the trust vote, triggering a full-scale leadership battle inside the party.
EPS loyalists have moved the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker seeking the disqualification of the 25 rebel legislators under anti-defection laws.
Meanwhile, the CVe Shanmugam-led rebel group is gathering letters from General Council members urging EPS to convene a GC meeting, and efforts are reportedly underway to bring back V.K. Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran to consolidate anti-EPS forces.
Political analysts warn that if the Speaker rules against the rebels, the split will become permanent, fundamentally reshaping Tamil Nadu's opposition landscape.
