Kamal Haasan met Tamil Nadu CM Vijay in support of the Tamil film industry and submitted six important demands on behalf of the industry.
The demands included: revision of OTT release windows to protect theatrical earnings; fast-tracking GST relief on film production inputs; state government support for Tamil film exports globally; and creation of a Tamil film fund corpus for independent filmmakers.
Action against piracy and streamlining the censor certification process were also among the six demands submitted.
CM Vijay received the delegation warmly and directed relevant department officials to study the proposals and report back within a defined timeline.
The meeting underscored the new government's intent to be a constructive partner for the Tamil film industry, building on its earlier decision — announced the same day — to allow five shows per day for new Tamil film releases.
