S Narayan, the Karnataka distributor of Vijay’s Puli movie , has denied reports of the film being dubbed in Kannada. The forthcoming movie will reportedly only release in Tamil and Telugu languages.
A couple of days ago, there was buzz that “Puli” was being dubbed in Kannada. Producer and distributor Kanakapura Srinivas had claimed that forthcoming movies like Anushka Shetty’s “Rudhramadevi” and Vijay’s “Puli” were the two of the many non-Kannada films, which would be dubbed in Sandalwood.
Refuting these claims, S Narayan has clearly said that his stand on dubbing will never change and he has always been against the dubbing culture. The reports in the media are false and the multifaceted director will follow the footsteps of Dr.Rajkumar.
S Narayan announced that he is releasing “Puli” in Tamil and Telugu languages in Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Sa Ra Govindu, President of Dr.Rajkumar’s official fan club and Kannada activist, has said that he has full confidence in Narayan and believes that the filmmaker will never support dubbing.
While there has been an unofficial ban on dubbing in Kannada since 1960s, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had overturned the ban last month after hearing its pros and cons. In its verdict, it also said that the ban on dubbing was “illegal.”
As a result, many pro-dubbing distributors have reportedly decided to dub other language films in Kannada. Kanakapura Srinivas is one among them as he is getting ready to release Telugu movie “Rudhramadevi” in Kannada.
“Puli” will hit screens on 17 September for Ganesh Chathurthi. The movie stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Kannada actor Sudeep, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani and Sridevi in the key roles.
It is a fantasy-adventure film made on a budget of Rs.100+ crore. Chimbudevan has written and directed the movie, which is bankrolled by PT Selvakumar and Shibu Thameens.
